If you’ve searched this, you probably already have a computer that’s good enough (check that first — it’s free). But if you’re buying, a mini PC is the right call for most households: it’s small, silent, sips less power than a lightbulb, and stays on 24/7 without you noticing the electricity bill. Here’s how to actually choose one.

The one spec that decides everything: memory

Ignore the CPU benchmarks, the marketing about “AI-ready” chips, and the core count. An AI model is a file that must fit in fast memory to run. That’s it — that’s the whole shopping criterion.
